Student led Finance Org
The SOF Speaker Series aims to provide members with valuable insights, inspiration, and knowledge from industry professionals and Texas A&M Alumni. These sessions help members understand the practical applications of finance principles, gain career advice, and learn about current trends and challenges in the finance industry.
Maroon Fund is a beginner-friendly, student-led investment fund at Texas A&M that manages $70,000 in university-allocated capital while teaching members how to invest in public equities and build quantitative models from the ground up. We start with the fundamentals by explaining why investing matters and what equity research or quantitative algorithms are before moving into hands-on stock selection, pitching, and model development. Analysts work in small teams led by portfolio managers or quant directors, allowing students with little to no background to learn quickly through real experience and structured guidance. Beyond investing, Maroon Fund is a close-knit community that offers firm trips, mentorship with professionals, and exposure to Texas A&M’s high-impact programs that help members break into competitive finance careers.
The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is an 8-week program designed to equip members with the principles and skills to be ethical and effective leaders. The program is rooted in the 12 principles and 4 SOF values: Integrity, Humility, Compassion, and Excellence.
SOF TAMU will host a few socials throughout the year. In the fall semester, look out for tailgates and crawfish boil in the spring. We also host other fun events every month!
